Saaritalo Sign

640 480 Thuja Wood Art - Reclaimed Cedar Furniture Wood Art Vancouver Victoria Gulf Islands British Columbia

photo 2Here is another sign that I made for a client on Pender Island.  The word SAARITALO is Finnish, and translates to ‘Island House’.  The clients have lots of native Arbutus trees on the property and wanted to feature some pieces on the sign (these are reddish round pieces around the lettering).  The sign itself is made from salvaged old growth red cedar driftwood.  It is very simple in design, but the colours in the cedar make it stand out.  The lettering is carved and painted with high quality sign paint.  Each post has rebar in the bottom that goes down through the rocks and into the ground to stabilize the sign.  The rocks keep the wood off the ground and dry ensuring it will last a very long time.  Thank you Kari for another wonderful local project.
