Description
This sprung gate latch and catch set is locally hand forged, and fits most gates. Thuja Wood Art has been custom making these latches for our gate projects for 20 years now. They are very simple to use with no moving parts and will last forever. When you push down on the handle, it releases the latch from the catch mounted on the post and the gate can swing freely in either direction. When closing the gate the latch slides into the catch easily and stays firmly shut. These latches are 30″ tall with three 1/4″ mounting holes near the bottom. The handles are 5″ apart allowing use on gates up to 3″ thick, and 7″ long with a flared curve design. The latch is designed to work best with a 1 1/2″ space between the outside edge of gate and the post. We find this works very well when using pintel hinges to hang the gate, as it leaves a similar space on the other side of the gate, so when looking at the gate the space on either side is the same.
