SOLD– The Linghza Tree is carved from salvaged red cedar driftwood. Both the tree top and the base are red cedar, but the top is a darker grey colour of cedar that I find once in awhile, appearing as if it has been stained by iron, but the whole log is like this. When I stained the top, I used a tinted oil to blacken the wood more. Inspired by craggy wind blown trees, this piece also bears a slight resemblance to the famous Linghza mushroom/fungi which is sacred in Asia for its healing powers.
