Inspired by an earlier pedestrian gate that I made, a client commissioned me to build a similar style of gate for her landscaping project in Maryland. This gate is made from salvaged old growth red cedar driftwood. It is made with mortise and tenon wood joinery, glued and pegged. This gate has the added feature of artistic metalwork on both sides. Copper tubing alternates with the hand split pickets in the body of the gate. 
Then metalsmith George Hudson added hand forged custom steel hinges, hoops and scrolls, and a sprung latch to match. This gate invites people into the newly landscaped gardens and entrance of this Maryland client.
