This is a set of driveway gates that are meant mostly for walking traffic, but allows access for delivery vehicles by opening both gates.   Naturally curved cedar adds a beautiful and graceful design element.  Hand split, salvaged red cedar, with mortise and tenon joinery.

The Bluenose Schooner entrance project includes driveway gates and a pedestrian gate, all made of reclaimed and locally salvaged red cedar driftwood.  The client is a boat captan who lives on Schooner Way, here on Pender Island.  He naturally wanted me to carve the iconic Canadian Bluenose Schooner (as you will see on the dime)…

Bowen Driveway Gates

These driveway gates are part of a large project involving two other local artists.  Tracy Calvert created the stained glass panels, and Callum McKay made the stainless steel frames for the glass as well as the hardware.  The gates themselves are made with reclaimed red cedar, and constructed using mortise and tenon joinery.
