Fairy King’s Throne

This summer, during a wood collecting excursion, I found a single piece of cedar on the beach that was almost seven feet long and four feet across, but was only a width of six inches with a slight curve reflecting the circumference of what was once a very large and majestic tree. At one end, […]

Reclaimed Cedar Benches

Sit down and relax! Over the last year I have been enjoying making more furniture from the red cedar driftwood that I salvage off the beaches.  (and just in case you are wondering I do have a salvage and beachcombing license to collect driftwood) I love to collect interesting pieces of cedar driftwood.  Some have […]

Live edge table on the Gulf Islands

New furniture made from reclaimed red cedar Pat is one happy lady these days.  She has a new table from Thujawoodart!  She lives on the Gulf Islands in British Columbia, Canada.  This furniture was designed to live behind her couch and hold pottery and flowers.  That is why it is 4′ long and only 15″ […]

Pender Island Handsplit Red Cedar Driveway Gate Project

Pender Island Handsplit Red Cedar Driveway Gate Project

Thuja Wood Art uses salvaged Red Cedar to build custom driveway gates and entrance. This project was an exciting collaboration with George Hudson, a fantastic local metalsmith.  I designed the woodworking for the gates to allow the handsplit redcedar to be joined with mortise and tenon joinery, then pegged with hardwood.  Then together George and […]
